WESMAR to Display Tough Commercial Bow Thrusters
Woodinville, WA- 17 Nov. 2011 – WESMAR announced today they will be displaying their popular, rugged all stainless steel Commercial Bow Thruster at The International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans November 30 – December 2. The Model V2-24 will be on display representing WESMAR’s complete line of 20 to 48 inch commercial thrusters with horsepower ratings from 75 to 499.
WESMAR’s all stainless steel, counter-rotating design will be a head turner. It brings more power, less noise and less vibration than competitive units. The use of counter rotating dual propellers splits the power between two gear sets yielding very high propeller efficiency. The counter rotating design with one prop pulling the water in and the second prop pushing water out for greater axial thrust creates greater power and up to 40% more thrust. This allows the use of smaller tunnels, particularly for shallow draft applications and it reduces drag and saves fuel. The horsepower ratings on WESMAR’s commercial systems, which range from 20 to 48 inches, is 75 to 499.
Known for its 46 years experience in the design of rugged underwater equipment for work boats, commercial fishing boats, yachts, excursion vessels and ships of the world’s navies, WESMAR thrusters are built for the toughest sea conditions. Turning in tight quarters, holding position, dynamic positioning DP1 and DP2 (ABS certification of design), and docking in challenging environments are standard assignments with WESMAR’s world-class thrusters. The stainless steel investment casting construction adds to the durability and reliability of the WESMAR systems, which are widely used onboard crew boats, supply boats, tug boats, fishing boats, fire boats and ferries around the world.
The WESMAR thrusters will be on display in the booth of WESMAR’s distributor, Donovan Marine (Booth #1437). WESMAR’s Vice President of the Mechanical Division Bob Sentz will be in the booth along with Steve Garver, Vice President of Donovan Marine.
